We started the tradition of putting up the Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving a few years ago. This tradition will change with H2's birthday in the future though. I like the idea of waiting until after his/her birthday to decorate for Christmas. Anyhoo... the tree went up early this year. Evie demands the "lights!" be on during her waking hours. Both dog and toddler have been great about not bothering the tree thus far. Daddy put the hooks on the ornaments, Evie walked them to Mommy, and Mommy put them on the tree. The tree is still adult looking for another year... :)
Grandmom came to visit the first weekend in December. On Friday night we drove through the Symphony of Lights at Merriweather. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Evie says "lights!" 43 times a day and said nothing the entire drive through the lights. She looked mesmerized though.
Saturday night we went to a local church that put on A Walk to Bethlehem. You walk though the parking lot with a tour guide and make different stops. At each stop you hear the main characters in the Christmas Story read Bible verses or tell you about their role. It was a chilly night, but we were bundled up and prepared. Evie made all the sound effects for the sheep. After a walk, we sang carols. We had to jet at this point due to bedtime. A great, free event to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
On Sunday, the 3 of us went to the local fire station to look at the train display. Another great, free activity! (trying to give my MD friends some ideas...). See the pictures for more details on our trip here.
Most of my shopping is finished and gifts wrapped. I decided to send a card for New Years instead of Christmas to give you a nice picture of the whole fam!

Great job getting to all those Christmas events before December 7th :) I too love the free events!
I enjoy all the extra twinkle of the lights, along with Evie, this time of year.
Can't wait to find out if H2 is a boy. I'm surprised Hannah hasn't suggested Jesus to be his name.

Was a fun week-end. This will be a great Christmas.
The pics are wonderful - Love the colorful sweater - she is getting so big now. If Evie comes to our place the week, there are also lots of light and train displays we will take her to. You better put the little white Christmas tree dress on her in the next few weeks!!!
