Double the Fun

Evie's birthday falls right between her Hettinger cousins' birthdays.  10 days after Hannah turned five and 9 days before Cole turns two.  Leave it to G to take the big party planning off our hands and have everyone to her place to celebrate the two turning two (of course to spoil Hannah as well).

Two curly haired, thumb suckers turn(ed) TWO

The weather was perfect for an outdoor party.  The kids ran around with all the fun toys at G and Poppop's house

There were more gifts than Christmas!

Parker was a huge celebrity with everyone, but his immediate family

All three great-grandparents attended the event

Stefany family- no "outlaws"

Pronzato family- no "outlaws"

Have you figured out the definition of "outlaws"?  These pictures were taken at 1:15 PM after hours of playing outside.  Evie and Cole were DONE.

Nicely balanced group of grandkids

Once we brought out the cupcakes, Evie and Cole bounced back.  Noted.  Pictures AFTER sweets

Once the party was over, Hannah, Evie, Braylen, Parker, and I stayed in Lancaster for a few more days.  Evie really enjoyed playing with Hannah.  Hannah loved playing with Parker.  And Braylen loved watching the show.  I loved having drinks with Michelle one night.

Coloring together

Serving tea to all

Doing puzzles with Poppop

Taking a break- watching Lady and the Tramp

Feeding the ducks (illegally) at Long's Park

I enjoyed a few hours with my college friends, Rachel and Jessie.  We wanted to meet Ruxin and Braylen this time, but next time, it's just moms.  It was a loud, exhausting 2 hours, but it sure was refreshing that other moms find motherhood just as challenging as me.  I wish I could see these girls more than two times a year!

Nora- 18 months, Ruxin- 8 Months, Braylen- 5 months, Evie- 2 years

It was nice to come home after 5 days in Lancaster.  Daddy set up Evie's new easel and had it waiting for her.

I think Daddy missed us

Evie Girl is TWO!

Here is a glimpse at Evie's first day as a two year old!

Side note- Braylen slept from 7:30 pm- 5:15 am!   I have been up since then, but he went back to bed : )

7 AM- Rise and Shine Birthday Girl!

7:30 AM- Daddy makes banana pancakes

She loves her pancakes and dippie
7:45 AM- Evie enjoys looking at all of her birthday cards and one present from Mommy and Daddy

Saying good morning to brother

A new book!
8 AM- Daddy leaves for work

Giving Daddy a hug and kiss

She watches Daddy get in his car.  She says "bye bye"
for the 10th time when he pulls away.  Then she shuts the door

Playtime

She is really into trains this week

10 AM Maiden Voyage of Pink Cadillac facing forward!!  I might not follow the recommendations for keeping bouncer, Bumbo seat, etc on the floor, but I did follow the recommendation for keeping Evie rear-facing until 2.

10:30 AM Met Cole and Auntie Laura at the mall for a stroller ride and play time in the germ zone.

Snack break

Double. Trouble.

It took no time at all to warm up

Noon- I wanted to make mac n cheese, but everyone was spent from the mall, so it was peach yogurt

Her utensil skills are excellent!

Playtime

Obsessed with her baby

Naptime- Read her new book

4:30 PM Dumbo DVD

5:45 PM- Birthday pizza dinner and cake with Braylen's stalker her BFF Emily, Lisa, and Karl

Helping Daddy bring up the drinks from the basement.

Way to dress with the theme, girls!
6:45 PM- Elmo cake unveiling

She was excited to see Elmo at her party.  I think
all the attention on her made her shy.  She was clinging to me

Did you notice the blasted Eagles sweatshirt?!  Yes, it's 51 degrees

Cake!  A very special treat in this house

One good friend is all a girl needs
7:25 PM- Emily barfs while on the walk

7:26 PM- Party over

8:00 PM- Bedtime

I don't think Evie completely "got it".  She definitely knew to say "two" when asked about the day.  In this Pinterest driven, go over the top culture, our party was super lame.  I like setting the standard low and having the energy to give Evie my attention and love all day.  I think mission was accomplished.

11th Hour

Well, not quite 11th hour.  The cake was done by 10:30 PM.

Lisa hooked us up with all the supplies.  Jason did the rest.  I took pictures

The mold

A glass of wine makes everything easier

Nice texture!

So proud of his finished product

We ran out of red dye, so Elmo was a dark, hot pink.  I would buy chocolate icing to color red next time.  We also didn't have black dye, so Elmo's mouth and eyes are brown.  Luckily Elmo is very recognizable whether he is hot pink or red.

One home made cake done.  Many more to come!

Pool: Love or Hate?!

After Evie's fear of the bath tub, which has been resolved (she's back in the big tub!!), I was a little worried about the pool.  Have no fear Mama, this girl has conquered her fear of water (or whatever happened...).

TJ's Mommy invited us over for some pool time today since it was humid and hot!  TJ's turtle sandbox made a great pool and it was definitely warm enough to be in it at 9:45 AM (just ask their smokin' hot mamas!)

Evie had fun filling and emptying cups of water all over the deck.

Evie was in and out of the pool most of the hour, but she did sit down (yippee!)

Snack break!  Does Evie look like a babe or what? :)

We met Amy and TJ in September.  Since most days Amy doesn't have a car, I hang out at her house at least once every two weeks.  It's fun to see TJ change from a immobile baby to an almost walker.  Evie loves to run around Amy's spacious first floor.  TJ is just about fast enough to keep up!

While I was busy caring for my two under two, summer arrived.  Holy cow, it's mid May already!!
