A Cry for Help

Well, maybe more than A cry.

My poor little girl is having some trouble sleeping this week.  For the most part, Evie is a good sleeper- most nights 10-12 hours.  This week, we have reverted back to her newborn days.  The past two nights Evie has been up every 45 minutes.  The longest stretch of the sleep being 2 hours over the last 48 hours.  This is NOT normal.

So what is it?

The go-to reason is always "she must be getting teeth".  We have been saying this for MONTHS.

No teeth yet

Apparently getting teeth late is good because her teeth will be stronger or something like that.  Her mother has exceptional teeth- no cavities EVER.  (I shouldn't brag too much; I go to the dentist tomorrow...  I will probably have 10).  I also wore braces as a junior in high school.  My teeth were in no hurry to come in or out.

Evie is incredibly snotty.  I was sick for a week, now Jason has it.  Maybe she is just sick.  We have the vaporizer going, Vick's rub on, have her sleep in her car seat, warm bath at bedtime.  Nothing is helping.  Even giving Tylenol only got us 2 hours of continuous sleep.

Any suggestions?  Do we think she is really getting teeth or just telling me she is miserable like I was for a week?

Probably teething and the cold. No fun! I'd try tylenol and then the car or bouncy seat in the dark bathroom with the bathroom fan on. The noise soothes my little ones. Good luck!

I feel your pain....I feel like Alex started teething at 3 months and is still going through it!!!!! We are now working on her top teeth...Luckily our nighttime problems stopped when she got tubes in her ears, during the day she loves sucking on her teething rings...and I would resort to Tylenol when it would get really bad.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things for her cold...I always felt so helpless when Alex had a cold since there isn't much you can do....one thing my pediatrician suggested was to put a pillow under one side of the crib mattress to raise it slightly. Alex moves around so much in her sleep that I was never comfortable doing that, but it may be something you want to try.
I hope evie is feeling better soon...unfortunately if she's like Alex you will be saying its teeth for weeks before they actually come!!!! But it does get easier as they get older :)

they also say that when the are learning and have learned a new skill - they sleep less - because they want to practice it - so maybe the new skill of crawling is making her want to be awake...

it also may be teeth - think about something trying to poke through your gums - it wouldn't feel great while it is trying to get through - so she's probably in some pain while they are trying to come out. we used hyland's teething tablets - hyland's is GREAT - homeopathic - all of their products i've used are great. i will say i am partial to the teething tablets than the teething gel

i hope you get it figured out! sleepless nights suck

love ya!
