As we approach the holiday season, it's time to think about our Christmas photo card. I asked Jason if we want to make our Christmas card a birth announcement too or send two large shipments out.
Then I got thinking.
First, I will NOT combine H2's birth announcement with our Christmas card. Already I would be failing as a mother by combining the two. I have been listening to gripes from people with December birthdays as well as storing away good ideas of how to make H2's birthday special in the shadow of the largest gift giving holiday of the year. I made up my mind on that decision.
Second, is a birth announcement a thing of the past?? By the time I get the announcement out (which I remind you of our speediness with Evie's) everyone will either see H2 on the blog or Facebook or know by email or text about him/her. I will make one for us at least because I like having that token in H2's baby book.
So weigh in, does anyone even want one? Should I just save the money and take away your joy of opening something other than bills or junk mail? OR do I go into blog/Facebook/text/email silence for a week and make some of you wait by your rusty, bent mailboxes to find out if H2 is a girl or boy? THAT would be lots of fun.

You are better than me, you know I combined the 2 (but he was also my first so there were no other kids left out) :-P I say birth announcements for super close family and friends.
As for birthdays and holidays being close, we will have to brainstorm together on ideas! All of my friends that I talked to who have birthdays right around Christmas say its not so bad. I know that you and Jason will always make H2 feel special regardless of when their birthday is!
I will die if you keep the gender/name a secret until you get the mail out...although if that doesn't include family, I say keep others in suspense for the mail :)
I still haven't done Logan's announcements....and wonder like you if it just ends up in the trash for most people...I'd like you to know I proudly displayed Evie's announcement on our fridge and would do the same with H2 if you choose to send one our way :).
Jen- no worries. You will get a phone call when H2 arrives.
Jackie- Alex was up on our bulletin board for probably a year. I will add you to the short list of people who will appreciate an announcement.
I adore snail mail. Maybe it's because we live so far away, but envelopes from home make me crazy excited. I would happily endure radio silence, or in this case cyber silence, about H2's arrival in anticipation of a real live piece of paper.
Then again, I'm a cheapskate, so if you decide to save your pennies on announcements and postage I would completely understand that too. :)
I kind of thought the same thing. Everybody knew Ruxin and what he looked liked but he was the first so I did them. I would appreciate one!!
