9 Months!!

It's the 14th; my diligent blog followers know a monthly update is coming on Braylen.

Bray-baby weighed 19.8 lbs on Auntie Laura's scale yesterday.

He is definitely slowing down in the weight gain department.  His thighs are still chunky, but his midsection is slimming down.

This boy is on the move.  Nobody is going slow him down. (oh no... I got to keep on movin').  He slithered on his belly for about 2 days, then went to full on hands and knees, no belly on the ground, crawling.  He crawled up the two steps from our living room to the dining room once.  And in true Braylen fashion, he made sure he did something major on the 14th so I could share even more about him.  He pulled up onto the activity table and bath tub like he's been doing it for weeks.

Water started, Braylen jets from his room to the
bathroom and instantly pulls up to squawk at his sister

The blue tub has been retired.  These two
crazies take a bath together.  It is a 2 adult
operation.
He loves to look out the front door.
Our glass door will not be clean for many more years

Braylen could open and close doors all. day. long.  This is probably his favorite activity as well as putting Parker's toys in his mouth.  Seriously, all the toys on the ground and he will beeline for Parker's gnarly nylabone!

After many failed attempts over the last month with the sippy cup (he used it more as a teether), I tried a straw cup.  Attempt #3, figured it out.

Just water for now since he's still messy with it.

* Let me take a brief aside here.  I write these milestone blog posts for my record and of course to share these big accomplishments with anyone willing to read.  I am very sensitive about milestones.  Evie was such a bad eater that I was constantly feeling low about my mothering abilities because I compared her to every other kid, either friend's kids or what I read on the evil Internet.  Every time I heard a baby similar in age to her was doing X thing, I felt horrible inside .  I felt as though that mom was trying to one up me by bragging about how early her child could do this or that.  A major weakness for me.  So if you are a mom reading about something Braylen is doing that your baby is not, try not to beat yourself up.  I'm right there with you.  It's one more thing that makes being a mom so hard!*

Finger foods?  Oh yeah, guess I should be offering some of those.  This is what I'm talking about.  I call up Erica and RJ is popping puffs.  PANIC!  You bet I bought puffs the next day.

First try with Mum Mums.

Oh yes, the sticky Mum Mum remains all over his hands,
his outfit, the straps, his hair...

Braylen pushed out pieces of avocado and pea with his tongue.  He does like when Evie helps with puff eating

I'm proud of Evie for showing Braylen how to chew and telling him to "wash it down" with water.  She's got this under control.

There were a few brief moments this month when Braylen was still

He crawled up to Jason and planted himself here
to watch tennis.  I don't let my kids watch much TV
(because I don't), so when it is on, I think he is mesmerized

Wait, that's the same Eagles logo as the sweatshirt...
does he have a t-shirt too?   Oh goodie.

Thanks Wik boys.  This bib walked into our bag of dirty laundry
from our visit.  Good thing we have an Auntie (or two)

Just when I get a rhythm down, Braylen changes it up on me.  I think crawling is a hard stage.  They want to move, but most places are not safe.  Look at my house, there are shreds of Parker's rope toy all over the floor and gravel by the front door.  Braylen picks up both things!  Hey, at least the crawling stage forces me to keep my floors cleaner than normal :)

I read these posts and feel like they are my life too. I definately find the crawling stage the hardest as well. Logan is ready to take his first steps any day now and I can't wait - I may be kicking myself later for saying that. Anyways - not trying to make you feel like I'm one upping you with that...I saw Braylen using a sippy cup and immediately felt the panic...thank you for the side note to bring me back to reality :). I'm still going out tomorrow to get him a straw one! Looking forward to the next update!

Your kids are adorable and right on track! The comparison game is hard though and i definitely have the same thoughts about my kids, Braylen is going to be walking before Halloween I bet! That will make trick or treating fun!

They are both growing so fast and both have their own personality. Enjoy every moment. Love Pops and Paula.

Braylen is SO DANG PRECIOUS! Love the pics of him with Jason. And my goodness...those EYELASHES.

For many of us mamas our blog is our journal. It's completely reasonable that you record your kids' milestones. I think we're all a little sensitive about the milestone thing when our own kids are super small or really late walkers or whatever. But it's important to remember that the sensitivity is due to the READER and what is going on in the reader's life. You're most definitely not the cause of anyone's pain, sweet friend!

I vacuum like twice a day and there is still stuff Ruxin finds on the floor. Thankfully he is getting a little better at putting everything he finds on the floor in his mouth. I compare to, I think we all do, but they are all different! Ruxin was like Braylen, he didn't get the sippy cup at all but but got the straw right away. Luke was eating puffs and I thought "gasp" I haven't even considered giving him stuff like that! Now he eats pretty much everything, except peas. He still hates them. Hope all is well. Miss you!
