And speaking of molars- Evie went to the dentist today. No lie, our dentist's name is Dr. Mohler. Cracks me up every time.
We decided to bring Evie to our dentist instead of the recommended pediatric dentist. She went in about a year ago for her first "check-up". It was more like Jason held her down while Dr. Mohler quickly painted some fluoride on her teeth. We were in the conference room, not even a real room. I think it was unnecessary, but something I could answer "yes" to when the pediatrician asked if we have seen the dentist yet.
As with swimming, I prepped Evie weeks in advance for the dentist by reading her a book about going to the dentist. She asked questions and pointed out different things on each page. She allows us to brush her teeth, so I felt like we might be in good shape for today. Wishful thinking!
I sent Braylen to Lisa's while I took Evie to see Dr. Mohler. We waited 35 minutes in the waiting room (boo!) BUT in that amount of time she warmed up and was asking for Dr. Mohler. The wait might have been worth it.
Evie had my normal hygentist, Angie. We were both skeptical after Evie kept her thumb in her mouth and said no to everything. The air/water sprayer turned her around. I was really pleased how well Angie handled the appointment. She showed Evie all the instruments and asked if she wanted to touch them. Evie allowed her to count her teeth. Then she showed her the tooth brush for polishing which had a zebra head on it. Evie thought that was cool. Evie willingly opened her mouth and let Angie clean every one of her teeth! I almost cried happy tears. I was so proud of Evie for doing it (I might have bribed her before we left the house with two Hershey Kisses if she opened her mouth). Evie loved the water sprayer in her mouth and quickly picked up how the suction straw worked. When asked if she needed more water to clean her teeth, Evie happily replied "one more time".

| Attempt #2. I kept the first attempt so you could tell we were at the dentist. Notice Baby came with us. |
Evie was not as comfortable with Dr. Mohler even though I told her he would be just like Daddy (ie same age, has kids about the same age as us, goes to the same gym). He was able to look around and paint her teeth with fluoride. We had been at the dentist for over an hour at this point, so I can see why she was antsy. He commented about the thumb sucking. We have another year before we really need to start working on that. Good. Because that is the last thing I feel like doing right now.
Evie picked up some prizes from the tooth bin and got a new toothbrush. She proudly ate her two promised Hershey Kisses in the car. A total success!
And a huge THANK YOU to Lisa for watching Braylen for me.

Must admit the "Dr. Mohler" gave me a laugh too! Way to go Evie! She will have to give Luke a pep talk when his time comes :-D
I *smile* at the bribing to go to the dentist! Good job, Mommy and Evie!
