Back to School

Today was a sad day for the Hollencamp crew; our dear friend and neighbor, Lisa, went back to work.  We were very fortunate to be able to spend ample time together during Lisa's first summer off since we met her (all two years ago...).

Most afternoons between 3:30-5:30 PM (aka witching hour) were spent outside playing in water, walking the neighborhood, digging in sand boxes, caring for baby dolls, drinking beer (mommies only), and just being there for each other.  We even hung out the week Braylen had hand, foot, and mouth disease when no one else wanted us near them.   We're basically family.

Usually Lisa and I are the ones put to work cleaning up messes, but this one day, we put them to work

I am going to be lost without Lisa.  I will want to pick up the phone at 2:15 to complain about the tantrum Evie threw or how I have no motivation to make dinner.  It was a comfort to know that she was only a minute away if I needed an egg, food processor, or any ingredient I didn't seem to have when I was motivated to make dinner.  Knowing I had her, Emily, and Alex to drop by in 5 minutes when it was a hard day, is exactly what kept me going strong all summer.  Ugh, this day makes me so sad. 

We had a countdown to the beach this summer; we might need one counting down the days until Lisa is off.  Please let it be a bad winter again.  We miss our afternoon buddies so much!  What a great summer.  Next summer will be even more fun with little Alex in the mix.  We'll need four of everything :)
