Clean Up Time

Jason and I are tidy people, but you wouldn't know it by the way our house looked recently.  We had strollers in stairwells, infant car seats in the dining room, exersaucers (yes, had two) in the office, boxes of hand-me-down clothes in the guest room, 50 moving boxes under our futon, and just cluster everywhere.  We couldn't stand it any longer.

We bought a storage unit on Saturday.

We have talked about getting one for months, but with only 1 income, spending how ever much a month to store our junk didn't seem worth it to me.

It. Is.

We only got a 5 x 10 unit, which is about the size of a walk-in closet.  We cleared out 6 huge Rubbermaid totes of Christmas stuff from the attic.  This made the biggest difference.  We finally had space in our house, out of sight, to store baby stuff!

With H2 coming sooner than later, we tore apart the guest room and started the transition to H2's nursery.  We are using the furniture minus the bed with our deal of a crib from IKEA.  We moved the desk from the basement, without the hutch, upstairs for a changing area.  All parts of the bed and hutch traveled via the roof on the Audi to the storage unit.  We are so thankful Ana had the roof racks for the Audi when she sold it to us.  We didn't have to rely on knowing someone with a pick up truck!

Jason did most of the moving himself for many reasons.  Jason has great spatial perception and can pack like no other (besides his father from whom he inherited this skill).  I let Jason have the morning in the storage unit to rearrange 80 times without my commentary.  He took pictures to show off his work

Goodbye guest room until we can afford a 4 bedroom house!

The roof top carrier put us over the edge.  With no garage to store it,
we needed to go with plan B
We are very pleased with the return of a somewhat clutter-free house.  The guest room is a nice size for a second nursery.  It's staying bright blue.  Don't read into that.  I am so over painting at this point, that boy or girl, the nursery is blue.

The next thing- set up a craigslist account to sell some unwanted stuff and hope to make some money to pay for the storage unit.  Haha
