Ready or Not, 3rd Trimeter Here I Come!

Preparing for Nugget reminds me of planning my wedding. Lots of congratulations and happy parents in the beginning followed by meetings with wedding coordinators/doctors. You do a lot of planning and setting up plans for a date about 6-9 months later. Then you hit this lull when everything is done and you have to wait for the day to get closer before you do anything else. We are in the pregnancy lull.

Everything we could do in advance is finished, I think. We are now waiting for all the fun events to happen, like showers, classes, and then of course, the arrival of Nugget! We are also squeezing in a final out of town trip to Boston to visit our ex-Marylander friends this month.

The first two trimesters have been overall pretty easy in the pregnancy symptom category. When I look over "the list" of common symptoms, I had very few. I had my own list of symptoms that were more on the "call your doctor immediately if this happens..." list, but I've learned to live with them and realize my body is handling this pregnancy different than the normal female.

So here we are entering the 3rd trimester. While I haven't had hemorrhoids yet or leaking nipples, some other unpleasant symptoms are creeping into my life. When I was younger having sleepovers at Michelle's house, I referred to this sensation in my legs as "my veins itch". Then my college roommate called hers "heeby geeby legs". Now I realize it's probably called Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). It was always something that happened here and there, now it's more here than there. My RLS always makes a well-known appearance when we are attending a show at the Hippodrome. Jason is already preparing for my antics when we see Les Miserable this weekend. I think it's going to be a long 12 weeks of RLS.

Sleeping is also becoming an issue. My back hurts and I can't get comfortable. Jason was away this weekend and even though I had the entire bed to sprawl out, I was still uncomfortable. Lovely. My back is hurting more and more these days. It's probably about time to go back for another prenatal massage. Or maybe my husband could rub it (HINT HINT JASON!)

So yeah, I think I had it easy my first 2 trimester and I spent most of that time worrying about a miscarriage. Well, 28 weeks, here I am :) Now that I'm finally believing we will have a healthy, breathing baby, I am feeling the discomforts of pregnancy. This little 5'1" frame can't handle this extra weight.

Good old heeby geeby legs! Mine were magnified by 100 during the last month...I don't know how Alex slept in the same bed as me since I was kicking them around like a fish out of water! Hopefully yours won't get to that point. Sorry to hear about hour GD....Marcia went through that so I sorta know what it's like. Just another hurdle to jump through, but your little bundle will be here soon and it will all be wirth it :)
