At Evie's 2 month appointment, Dr. Burke went easy on Evie (and us) and only gave her 2 of the 3 shots needed. She thought we already had enough on our plates that we didn't need more irritability, etc.
Great, however, let's remember that Evie likes to vacation at hospitals. Germ central! We need to keep this little nugget up on her vaccinations.
At our weigh in appointment yesterday, Evie weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz. Down a bit from her all time high of 9 lbs, 7 oz, but at least over 9! I mentioned Evie didn't get the rotavirus drops at her 2 month appointment. Naturally that vaccine should be given by 12 weeks, which newsflash, is next week. So we got it.
Evie is not eating quite as well and is a little fussier than the last few days. The same thing happened when she got her shots. And here we go again. Medicine is intended to help. With Evie, it only creates more anxiety and stress for mom. Will this be the pattern every time we get shots? Ugh...
Parents, please weigh in!

Ugh! I hate shots day...alex has gotten shots at every well visit so far :(. She is always fussy for 3-5 days following. I usually give her a dose if Tylenol before we go and as needed for the next few days...just something you may want to try. Glad to hear she is over 9 lbs...hoping for more and more weight gain!!!!
Shots are the WORST. They are supposed to help (long term), but they STINK in the NOW. Is it okay to pump (possibly unnecessary) infant Motrin into your child's system for 72 hours post-vaccination?? (Please say yes...) The marvels of modern medicine create anxiety (real or imagined). Now doubt about it.
Hang in there it will continue to get better. Glad to see she is developing her own personality.

I like to remember how a little crankiness/sleepiness now is way better than a case of TB/the mumps/etc. later! But it does get better, at least in some ways. Now the actual shots are worse since Noelle can talk and tell me how much she doesn't want them, but the recovery is quicker. And for her appts between 3 months and a year I did give her a half dose of baby tylenol beforehand which helped.
